A so-called independent investigator, attorney Thomas Daniel, is saying he believes Governor Sarah Palin may have violated Alaska ethics statutes by accepting donations to pay her legal debts.
Due to the large number of frivolous ethics complaints Sarah Palin setup a legal defense fund that people could contribute to in order to help pay the legal fees needed to defend the complaints.
Mr. Daniel’s reasoning is that a private person would not be able to obtain much, if any, contributions to a legal defense fund. Thus, since Sarah Palin is able to it must be because she is a public official and consequently this is an abuse of her position as Governor.
Huh?
Does anyone follow that logic?
Of course, if Palin hadn’t been part of the Republican ticket for President there wouldn’t be Democrats coming out of the woodwork trying to find something to file a complaint about.
So, if you’re famous, you can’t create a legal defense fund?
That’s absurd.
If you want to give someone money to help them out, you can’t if they’re famous?
Double-absurd.
If you want to donate, here is the link to The Alaska Fund.
Maybe an ethics complaint for stupidity should be filed against Thomas Daniel. He then might have a different opinion about accepting donations from others to pay his legal bills.
